Small and intimate wedding celebrations are always so sweet and special, such was the case with Shawn and Heidi’s spring wedding at The Corson Building.  The two lovebirds invited just a few of their closest friends and family and celebrated their union with great food and lots of laughter.

Below are just a very few of my favorites.  I’m signing out to enjoy my birthday weekend!

(check out Heidi in that dress!  gorgeous!)

  • saleina epperson - SOOoooo pretty, Kim. I love looking at your stuff… it’s pure eye candy!

Michael and Danielle had a romantic ceremony in a historic church that overlooked the sea.  They spent the rest of the day celebrating with friends and family, drank sangria at sunset, and danced into the evening.   Yep, it was pretty much a perfect day.

Here are just a few of my favorites…

Wedding: St. James by the Sea, La Jolla, CA.

Reception: La Estancia Hotel & Spa, La Jolla, CA.

Coordinator/Decorator/Flowers: Kristen Maurice-Francine Ribeau Events

  • Della - Gorgeous! Love that California light!

  • Johanna - I had to come back AGAIN and look at the beautiful photos!

  • Winnie Forbes - What a stunning wedding and gorgeous couple! Love the light, Love the colors.

  • Danielle and Michael - […] is a wedding that I had the privilege to shoot with Kim Hayes.  She is an incredibly amazing photographer and I felt so fortunate to be able to learn from her […]

Eric and Erin flew all the way from Scottsdale, AZ to elope at the amazing Treehouse Point in Issaquah.  Neither of them had spent much time in the northwest, they just happened to come across my blog post from last november and were in love with the landscape.  Of course it was raining, but there really isn’t a more magical place to get married than next to a roaring river surrounded by a canopy of moss covered trees.

These two are so sweet; I feel so honored to have been a witness. ♥

  • Tom - No freaking way!!! This looks VERY familiar! ;) You may be able to start a new niche market for wedding photography. Glad I was able to start a trend. Great work as always.

  • Jodie - Amazing as always :)

  • Winnie Forbes - organic, simple and gorgeous.

  • Katy - This is my very best friend in the whole world. Since she eloped I was so happy she was hiring an amazing photographer so we could all share it with her:) These are amazing! Thank you for helping me feel like I was there.

  • Marie L - The pictures tell a really beautiful and moving story. Very inspiring. Thank you!

  • Thomas - Awesome photography here, it’s like some enchanted forest wedding photography! :)

Two beautiful brides + a historic barn + plenty of great friends and family= a hands down hoedown!

I was so honored to be a part of Carrie and Chelsey’s union this past September.  There were so many incredible moments that happened that day, I often caught myself wanting to switch over to video mode.   Some of my favorite moments: a dance down the aisle to Hall and Oates, a rap speech by Chelsey’s brother, a heartfelt performance by Carrie of Total Eclipse to Chelsey,  and a live performance by my favortite northwest artist, Sera Cahoone.  (the woodfire pizza and mini donut stand were a hit, too!)

Here are just a few of my favorites…

bride suit: Brooks Brothers

venue: Pickering Barn

flowers: Issaquah Farmers Market Flowers

  • Katie - Kim I LOVE them! I still adore your work and am a little sad I don’t live around there anymore to occasionally 2nd shoot for you :)

  • Gina - I know nothing about taking pictures, but could I just tag along to every wedding you go to? They all look like so much fun.

  • jessica - started crying looking at the photos of your wedding. gorgeous

Sophia and Tyrel are the real deal; they are sincere, funny, down to earth, and totally in love.  I don’t know what I did right in this life to get clients as awesome as these guys, but I’ll take it!  Their sweet backyard wedding was chock-full of love, laughter, handmade details, and personal touches.   I have so many favorite moments from that day that I’m not sure how to sum it up in a few paragraphs. (When have you ever seen a bride + groom make their entrance towed behind a riding lawnmower?) I’ll leave you with the photos for now, and the most original and pertinent reading (from their ceremony) that I’ve ever heard.

From the book The Velveteen Rabbit

“What is REAL?” asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. “Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?”

“Real isn’t how you are made,” said the Skin Horse. “It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.”

“Does it hurt?” asked the Rabbit.

“Sometimes,” said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. “When you are Real you don’t mind being hurt.”

“Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,” he asked, “or bit by bit?”

“It doesn’t happen all at once,” said the Skin Horse. “You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”

“I suppose you are real?” said the Rabbit. And then he wished he had not said it, for he thought the Skin Horse might be sensitive. But the Skin Horse only smiled.

(As special and humongous thanks to Deann Barrera for second shooting!   Some of her wonderful photos are below…)
